We have an opportunity at our Fantech VIC office located in Dandenong South for a proactive Electronic & Controls Engineer to join our Engineering team.

Job Description

The Role

  • Lead the end-to-end design and development of embedded control systems (hardware and firmware) for intelligent ventilation products ensuring designs meet the relevant performance, safety and compliance standards.
  • Research and integrate emerging technologies to enhance product capability and meet evolving market needs.
  • Develop control strategies and system architecture that align with customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Create detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB layouts (Altium), and embedded firmware using C/C++.
  • Design and construct test equipment to validate products in development, production, and field settings.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, ensuring compliance with AS/NZS, IEC, and ISO9001 standards.
  • Manage engineering projects independently while collaborating with global teams and suppliers.
  • Provide hands-on technical support, including occasional travel to New Zealand for commissioning and training.
  • Drive continuous improvement across product performance, cost, and manufacturability.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you:

  • Recent Electronics, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering degree (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in electronic product design, embedded systems or controls engineering.
  • Must be proficient in circuit design and PCB layout (Altium Designer) and embedded C/C++ programming.
  • Experience with common microcontrollers such as STM32, ESP32, PIC, MSP and Communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, MODBUS
  • Understanding of HVAC systems and mobile app integration is desirable.
  • Experience working in cross-functional and global teams.
  • Knowledge of DFM and transitioning designs into volume production.

  • Strong computer software skills such as Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
