NCS Acoustics is a project-based steel fabrication and installation business delivering bespoke engineered solutions across [industries served, e.g., construction, infrastructure, commercial]. We’re looking for a driven and experienced Operations Manager to join our operations team in Takanini and take charge of daily operations, optimise processes, and oversee projects from fabrication through to on-site installation. In this role, you’ll lead the implementation of LEAN practices and work closely with various teams to ensure efficient, high-quality project delivery.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day production, fabrication, logistics, and onsite operations.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives (LEAN, process reviews, system upgrades).
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Site Management for seamless project handovers.
  • Manage production schedules, resource allocation, and project budgets.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance standards (ISO 9001 framework).
  • Drive a strong safety-first culture across the shop floor and sites.
  • Exposure to ERP/MRP systems.  

Desired Skills and Experience

About You:

  • 7+ years of operational leadership experience in metal fabrication, steel manufacturing, or heavy industry.
  • Proven background delivering project-based work in a fabrication environment.
  • Practical experience applying LEAN, Six Sigma, or similar process improvements.
  • Commercially savvy — able to manage budgets, costs, and drive efficiencies.
  • A confident communicator and problem-solver who thrives in a collaborative environment.
  • Qualifications in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related fields (advantageous but not essential).
  • Highly desirable: A demonstrated high level of understanding and substantial hands-on site experience in the planning, coordination, and execution of major construction or infrastructure projects within New Zealand. Candidates should be familiar with local industry standards, regulations, and best practices, and be able to contribute effectively to complex project environments.
